India’s telecoms company RailTel to explore opportunities in Guyana

A delegation from RailTel Corporation is expected to visit Guyana soon to explore opportunities that will be mutually beneficial to both Guyana and India, a post on Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), Mark Phillips official Facebook page said.
The Prime Minister today met with the Chair and Managing Director of RailTel Corporation, Sanjai Kumar, and executives of the company in New Delhi, India.
Kumar briefed the Prime Minister on RailTel’s history and its expertise in areas such as data centres, knowledge networks, e-governance, hospital management system digitisation, telemedicine, smart classrooms, efficient networks, cybersecurity, resilience, and smart city development.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Guyana would continue to collaborate with India and Indian companies in pursuit of its development agenda. He further noted that RailTel’s expertise aligns with several projects being undertaken in Guyana.
RailTel Corporation of India Limited is an Indian Navaratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) which provides broadband and VPN services. The corporation was formed in September 2000 with the objective of creating a nationwide broadband, telecom, and multimedia network, as well as modernising train control operations and safety systems for Indian Railways.
RailTel’s network passes through around 5,000 stations across the country, covering all major commercial centres.
