Vishal Anauge, called “Ghan”, a 30-year-old unemployed resident of Adventure, Essequibo Coast, who was wanted by the police for a series of ‘Break and Enter and Larceny’, ‘Burglary’, ‘Simple Larceny’, and other offences, was finally captured today.
At approximately 08:10 hrs, police ranks from Regional Division Two, acting on information received, proceeded to Spring Garden public road, Essequibo Coast, in two separate unmarked vehicles.
Upon arrival, they observed Anauge with a strap bag on his shoulder and a cutlass in his hand, walking south along the eastern side of the public road. As the vehicles approached, he ran east into a yard and continued further along the sea dam. The ranks disembarked and pursued him on foot, shouting for him to stop and surrender.
Anauge eventually halted, but as the police approached, he swung the cutlass at them multiple times. In response, the ranks discharged several rounds in his direction, striking him in the thigh, hand, and abdomen. Despite this, he continued advancing towards them before collapsing to the ground.
He was immediately picked up and transported to Suddie Public Hospital, where he was examined by the doctor on duty. He was treated and admitted in a stable condition.
The police recovered the cutlass and the strap bag, which contained:
$242,750 cash (Guyana currency)
One (1) G-Shock wristwatch
