Joshua Ross, 25, a motorcyclist and resident of Industrial Area, Linden, died in an accident on Tuesday at the intersection of Amelia’s Ward Public Road and Toucan Drive in Linden.

The accident involved a motor car owned and driven by Juliet Alexander, a 69-year-old pensioner, and motorcyclist Ross.

According to a police report, enquiries revealed that the car was travelling north along the western driving lane of Toucan Drive, while the motorcyclist was proceeding east on the northern driving lane of Amelia’s Ward Public Road at a high speed, weaving in a zig-zag manner without a safety helmet and with his motorcycle’s lights off.

As the car and motorcycle approached the intersection, the car stopped before attempting to cross the public road, at which point the motorcycle collided with the front left side of the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung several feet from the point of impact and landed on the northern parapet, sustaining multiple injuries.

Public-spirited citizens picked up the unconscious motorcyclist and transported him to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was examined by the doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.

The deceased’s body was later transported to the Linden Senior Citizens Association Funeral Home’s mortuary for storage, pending a post-mortem examination.

Both the car and the motorcycle have been impounded for examination by a licensing and certifying officer.

The driver of the motor car is in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
