GECOM flags fake recruitment portal link

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has distanced itself from an online link falsely claiming to be its official recruitment portal for the upcoming General and Regional Elections.
The misleading link,https://tinyurl.com/gecom-gy-recruitment, is not affiliated with GECOM. In an official statement, the Commission said no such online recruitment platform has been created by the body.
GECOM is urging members of the public to disregard the fake link and avoid sharing any personal information, warning that doing so could lead to serious consequences.
The Commission expressed concern over what it described as a deliberate act of mischief, highlighting that the spread of misinformation and disinformation often intensifies during election periods.
Such actions, GECOM warned, can negatively affect citizens’ participation in the democratic process, create confusion, and undermine the credibility of electoral systems.
In light of these developments, GECOM is advising the public to remain vigilant and verify all election-related information, particularly online. Citizens are reminded to always check the authenticity of website URLs and to rely solely on GECOM’s official website,, for accurate updates and information.
