Police are investigating the alleged murder of 54-year-old Datson Davidson, also known as “Blackie,” a clothes vendor who resided on Callender Street, Albouystown, Georgetown. The incident occurred on Thursday at the intersection of Cocorite and Freeman Streets, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
The suspect, 33-year-old shop owner Colwin Marcurius of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, has since been arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on the date in question, the suspect and the deceased—who were known to each other—were involved in an argument. Shortly after, a loud explosion, suspected to be a gunshot, was heard. Davidson was then seen lying motionless a short distance away.
Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene, and Davidson was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Investigators recovered a 9mm pistol, one live 9mm round, and a spent shell at the scene.
The suspect was swiftly arrested and remains in police custody. Investigations are ongoing.
