Former People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Executive Amna Ally has passed away. With a political career spanning over five decades, Ally served in various high-profile roles within the PNCR and the Government of Guyana.
She served as a Member of Parliament and General Secretary of the PNCR, playing a key role in shaping the party’s policies and advocating for social cohesion and women’s rights.
During the APNU+AFC coalition government, she held ministerial portfolios including Minister of Social Cohesion and Minister of Social Protection, where she championed causes focused on vulnerable communities.
In March 2025, Ally resigned from the PNCR, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership under Aubrey Norton.
She expressed concern over the treatment of women within the party and criticised the leadership’s failure to address an incident at a National Congress of Women (NCW) forum, where several women leaders were allegedly verbally abused.
