Liberty and Justice Party (LJP) Leader Lenox Shuman has endorsed the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for another term in office.

Shuman, a former Deputy Speaker and a pilot by profession, said in a video statement that he is impressed by the work carried out by the Irfaan Ali-led administration over the past five years.

“My brothers and sisters, it is a great gift to be living in this day and age where we can bear witness to the visionary, dynamic, and innovative leadership in contemporary Guyana of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Vice President Jagdeo, PM Mark Phillips, and the so many others working tirelessly day in and day out to make Guyana the best for all of us.

“I have observed a party that cultivates family, togetherness, leadership, and above all unity. From one people, one nation, one destiny all encompassed in ONE Guyana. This is the epitome and a rallying call of a uniting leader…It is precisely because of these and the so many other untold stories and long list of achievements that I unreservedly and whole heartedly announce that the I and the LJP endorse and will be supporting Dr. Irfan Ali and the Peoples Progressive Party Civic in the upcoming Regional and General Elections 2025 in Guyana. We welcome and thank you for your continued support. Let’s Vote for the party that is right for Guyana and Right for our children’s futures come 01 September 2025 – Let’s vote PPP/C!”

A prominent Amerindian, Shuman praised the electrification of many Indigenous communities through the Hinterland Electrification Programme and the distribution of over 30,000 solar power systems to Indigenous areas.

He also credited his support for the current government to a number of other initiatives. These include the resumption of Indigenous land titling and the rehiring of over 2,000 Community Support Officers (CSOs). Cash grants for students have been reinstated, and massive infrastructure projects aim to boost economic integration.

Guyana has become the fastest-growing economy for four consecutive years, with significant investments in agriculture and Indigenous communities. The Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) has delivered billions in direct cash transfers to Indigenous Peoples for forest conservation.

The government also offers 20,000 GOAL scholarships and has pledged free education from nursery to PhD, fulfilling Article 27 of the Constitution. Additionally, the distribution of thousands of house lots highlights the administration’s broad efforts to empower citizens and drive sustainable development across the country.

Elections are due to be held on September 1 this year.
