‘June Madness’ Futsal kicks off tonight

Starting tonight, 3 June, 48 of the top futsal teams in Guyana will compete in the highly anticipated ‘June Madness’ National Futsal Championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Organised by the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation and backed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in conjunction with Ansa McAL Trading, the tournament will follow a knockout format, with five million dollars in cash and incentives up for grabs. Matches will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The championship was officially launched last Saturday (31 May) with the team draw and briefing. The event will kick off with a mandatory march-past of the teams at 7:00 PM, attended by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, and representatives of the sponsors. The first evening will feature five matches.
The top 16 teams from the December 2024–January 2025 National Futsal Championship, also organised by the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, have received byes to the Round of 32. These teams include Sparta Boss, Back Circle A, Back Circle B, Road Warriors, North East, Z Tekk, Ballers United, Festival City, Gold Is Money, Bent Street A, Bent Street B, Timehri Warriors, Stabroek Warriors A, Stabroek Warriors B, Albouystown Ballers, and Espyanol.
The opening match at 8:00 PM will feature Broad Street against Young Stars, with the winner advancing to the Round of 32. Following this, Buxton will face Alexander Village, and Foot Steppers will challenge Tiger Bay. The night’s penultimate match will see Corinthians take on Paradise Invaders, culminating in a highly anticipated clash between Albouystown ‘A’ and Campbellville.
The tournament will continue on Thursday evening with another five matches. The scheduled games for the second night of action are as follows: Laing Avenue squaring off against Sophia Ballers, Unity Ballers versus Spaniards, YMCA against Agricola Ballers, Kingston battling Finishers, and the opening contest at 8:00 PM featuring Make It Happen against Street Vybz.
