With anticipation mounting, the Guyana Amazon Warriors say they are ready to dominate the inaugural Global T20 Guyana Super League, which is being hailed as one of the biggest sporting events in the country’s history.
Preparations are in full swing as the countdown to the tournament continues. The Amazon Warriors have already entered an intensive training camp and are focused on delivering their trademark brand of fearless, crowd-thrilling cricket.
Team captain Imran Tahir expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and reaffirmed their goal of winning the championship on home soil.
“We had a good start of our camp. You know, earlier this year than last year, we see that was our plan. Last year, we thought we were in a rush a little bit. So yeah, things looking forward and from my point of view, we want to play the brand of cricket that Guyana Amazon Warriors are known for. And we’re hoping to obviously give Guyanese fans the kind of cricket they want to watch when they come to the ground,” Tahir said during a recent press briefing.
The Global T20 Guyana Super League will bring together top-tier local and international players, offering a world-class cricketing spectacle at the Providence National Stadium. Thousands of fans are expected to attend, with organizers projecting significant tourism and economic benefits from the event.
According to the tournament’s organizing committee, the league will not only elevate cricket in the region but also position Guyana as a premier destination for global sports and entertainment.
The event is set to boost local businesses, attract international media attention, and foster new opportunities for investment in the sports and hospitality sectors.
