Former General Secretary of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC), Dawn Hastings-Williams, has announced her support for the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, led by businessman Azruddin Mohamed, saying the new party offers a “competitive, strong and fully equipped” vision to lead Guyana.

In a statement today, Hastings-Williams said she was endorsing WIN out of concern for the country’s development trajectory, describing past governments as “inept” and accusing them of neglecting the needs of citizens, including access to basic necessities.

“For too long Guyanese have been forced into submission to a system of Government which saw citizens being neglected, discriminated against and denied justice,” she said, adding that Mohamed’s leadership promises a united national voice and stronger poverty reduction efforts.

Hastings-Williams, a former Minister of Public Affairs and prominent Indigenous leader, highlighted World Bank data from 2019 indicating that 48 per cent of Guyanese were living in poverty. She described WIN’s manifesto as “truly inspiring” and said its policies promote equality in wealth distribution.

“It is my conviction that WIN provides a vision which is competitive, strong and fully equipped to lead Guyana into the future,” she said. “May God bless our homeland Guyana.”

WIN is a recently launched political party positioning itself as a youth-led alternative ahead of Guyana’s general and regional elections set for 1 September.
