The Alliance For Change (AFC) has elected indigenous rights advocate Laura George as its Prime Ministerial candidate for the upcoming September 1, 2025 General and Regional elections.

George, a former teacher with over two decades of work in advancing the rights and well-being of Amerindian communities, was elected following a four-hour deliberation by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). The process, described as intense yet fair, was marked by open dialogue and internal democracy.

AFC Presidential Candidate Nigel Hughes hailed the selection process, saying, “The AFC has done itself proud tonight. It had a process, it was transparent, everyone was allowed to question the candidates and this all augurs well for the future of our Party.”

The announcement comes as the AFC intensifies its campaign efforts, unveiling a slate of progressive development policies aimed at creating a new and prosperous republic. Party leaders and candidates have been engaging communities across the country through grassroots meetings to share their vision and listen to citizens’ concerns.
