Prominent religious leader Pandit Chandrashekar Sharma has endorsed President Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s bid for a second term, praising his dedication to unity, progress and the welfare of all Guyanese.
In a statement issued this week, Sharma said his endorsement was based on Ali’s record in his first term, which included efforts to strengthen interfaith harmony, advance social justice and improve the lives of the most vulnerable.
“President Ali has shown unwavering commitment to the people of Guyana,” Pandit Sharma said, adding, “His leadership has uplifted the economy, fostered national unity, and brought communities closer together. He leads with compassion, integrity, and vision—qualities our country needs in these challenging times.”
Sharma, well-respected for decades of community service and spiritual leadership, urged all Guyanese to unite behind Ali’s re-election bid. “Together, let us continue the journey toward a brighter and more prosperous Guyana, guided by our shared values of peace, service, and unity,” he said.
Under President Ali’s tenure, Guyana has seen marked economic growth and transformation in education, infrastructure development and cultural inclusion, the pandit observed.
