Murder suspect arrested in Berbice

A suspect in the alleged murder of Shezida Bibi Hanif was arrested earlier today during a targeted police operation at No. 66 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.

According to reports, law enforcement officers acted on information received in connection with the homicide, which took place at Samaroo Dam, West Bank Demerara.

At approximately 8:30 am, the team conducted a stop-and-search exercise on motor car PZZ 3660. The vehicle, driven by 29-year-old Abdul Jameer True of Parika Fisheries, East Bank Essequibo, was found to have 53-year-old Martin True seated in the back.

True, a resident of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was identified as the suspect in the case. He was informed of the allegation, arrested, cautioned, and subsequently transported to the Springlands Police Station.

Police say the suspect will be transferred to Regional Division Three as the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged murder.
