Marine traffic through the New Demerara River Bridge and the Demerara Harbour Bridge will be suspended on two occasions in September, the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said on Wednesday.
The closures are scheduled from 07:00 hrs on September 4 to 20:00 hrs on September 5, and again from 07:00 hrs on September 8 to 20:00 hrs on September 9.
The suspension will allow for the removal of form travellers used in building the main cable-stayed deck of the New Demerara River Bridge, MARAD said.
The agency added that once completed, the project would ease vessel navigation along the Demerara River by allowing ships to move through its navigable length with fewer restrictions.
