Guyana’s ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) is on course for a second term after securing eight of the country’s 10 electoral districts in the 2025 General and Regional Elections, official results showed on Wednesday.
The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) declared results for all districts, with the PPP/C winning 242,498 votes. The party captured Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Eight and Nine, while newcomer We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) took Regions Seven and Ten, long-time strongholds of the opposition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), with 109,066 votes.
The PPP/C also made history by winning in Regions Four and Eight for the first time, areas traditionally dominated by APNU.
Six political parties contested the polls.
