The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has won Region Four for the first time, breaking the decades-long dominance of the People’s National Congress (PNC), the largest party in the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) coalition.

Declarations for the regions show that the PPP/C secured 87,018 votes in Region Four, long considered the PNC/APNU’s stronghold. APNU followed with 46,772 votes, a sharp drop in support that underscored shifting political loyalties in a key constituency.

The We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party placed third with 41,930 votes, its strongest performance nationwide. Smaller groups trailed behind, with the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) collecting 2,690 votes, the Alliance for Change (AFC) 1,833, and the Alliance for Liberty and Progress (ALP) 549.

The upset victory is seen as a turning point for the PPP/C, which has historically struggled to make deep inroads in Region Four.
