A shocking incident unfolded on Thursday evening when a woman was viciously attacked by a monkey at Golden Fleece Beach, Region Two, leaving her seriously injured and hospitalised.

The victim, identified as Nadira of Golden Fleece Public Road, was well known for her fondness for the animal, owned by the Williams family of Perseverance. Over time, she reportedly developed a bond with the monkey, often visiting it and taking it on evening strolls.

That bond ended on Thursday. According to reports, while Nadira was with the animal, it suddenly became aggressive and launched a violent attack. In the struggle, the monkey bit off one of her fingers and inflicted additional injuries, causing her to bleed profusely.

Although her screams echoed through the neighbourhood, many villagers were hesitant to intervene, citing previous disagreements with her over the animal. Residents said the monkey had a troubling history, noting past incidents of aggression, including attacks and even thefts from households.

Nadira was eventually rescued after an alarm was raised. She was found drenched in blood and crying out in pain before being rushed to Suddie Public Hospital, where she is receiving treatment

The incident has left Golden Fleece residents shaken and has renewed calls for stronger measures to address the dangers posed by aggressive animals in the community.
