The Regional Health Services (RHS) Department of Region Six has dismissed claims that the transfer of one of its drivers was politically motivated, saying it was a routine measure to ensure smooth health care delivery.

The claim followed a social media post by Dr. Simona Charles Broomes, leader of the Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP), and Team Mohamed, who described the reassignment of driver Stanley Jacob as politically motivated.

RHS said Jacob was reassigned on Monday from the Regional Health Services Department to the Port Mourant Hospital “to cover a critical shift after one of the hospital’s drivers went on leave.”

“Mr. Jacob was the only available driver on duty, and his reassignment was therefore made to ensure the continuity of emergency patient transfers at the Port Mourant Hospital,” the statement said.

The department emphasised that the transfer of drivers across health institutions is a “standard and customary practice” and urged that the move should not be “misrepresented as anything other than efforts to maintain effective health care delivery across the region.”
