Guyana, Suriname hold talks on key bilateral issues

President Dr Irfaan Ali and Suriname’s President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons today held discussions in Nickerie on a wide range of important matters, including economic cooperation, energy security, agriculture and fisheries, and the Canawaima Ferry Service.

The talks also addressed preparations for the 7th meeting of the National Border Commissions of Suriname and Guyana, as well as broader regional developments.

President Ali arrived in Suriname earlier today for the engagement.

A joint statement from the two leaders is expected later today.
