Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, along the #69 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, which claimed the life of a 23-year-old motorcyclist and left two pillion riders hospitalized in serious condition.
Dead is Eric Kissoon, 23, of Lot 200, #72 Village, Corentyne. He was driving motorcycle #CN 7562, reportedly owned by Kishan Jagmohan of Lot G, #71 Village, Corentyne.
At the time of the crash, Kissoon was carrying two pillion riders: Soohil Thakuradi, 13, a student of Tagore Memorial Secondary School of Lot 202 Section B, #72 Village, and Goomraj Veerasammy, 28, of Lot 43, #0 Village, Corentyne. Both males remain hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to police reports, preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle was heading south along the eastern drive lane of the #68 Public Road at an alleged fast rate. Kissoon, who was reportedly unlicensed, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a right bend. Police said none of the three occupants were wearing helmets at the time.
The motorcycle collided with a bridge rail on the eastern side of the road, throwing all three occupants onto the roadway. Public-spirited citizens rushed the injured men to the #75 Regional Hospital, where Kissoon, who was unconscious on arrival, succumbed while receiving treatment.
His body is currently at the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
