The Ministry of Education’s Guyana Learning Channel (GLC) has announced the return of its flagship quiz competition, Whiz Kids, now entering its fifth season.
Registration is officially open, giving Grade 6 students the opportunity to compete for the coveted title of Whiz Kids Champion 2025.
The competition, broadcast on the GLC, tests participants in mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies, drawing directly from the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) curriculum.
Since its inception, Whiz Kids has gained a strong following for spotlighting young talent while encouraging academic excellence.
Speaking to Ignite News on Monday, Head of the Guyana Learning Channel, Anieshaw Mohamed, described the show as both entertaining and educational.
“Whiz Kids is a competitive game show that aligns with the NGSA curriculum. It helps to improve memory retention in the core subjects and offers a fun, engaging way for students to strengthen their knowledge while preparing for the upcoming National Grade Six Assessment,” Mohamed said.
Students interested in participating are required to register through the GLC’s online form. The deadline for applications is October 31, 2025, and the form can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/TjTk1jVN3U1bJ6zx6
Over the years, Whiz Kids has showcased some of Guyana’s brightest young scholars, many of whom went on to excel in their academic pursuits.
Season 5 is expected to continue that tradition, offering an engaging platform where education meets entertainment.
