The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security this week extended critical support to five small business owners, helping them strengthen their livelihoods and expand their ventures.

Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud handed over equipment to the entrepreneurs, noting that such interventions are designed to empower families and communities through sustainable income generation.

Among the beneficiaries was Roxanne Jainarine of Success, who runs catering and sewing businesses. After her sewing machine broke, replacing it became difficult. With the Ministry’s assistance, she received a new machine, allowing her to reclaim both her creativity and income.

In Vigilance, mother of eight Akeila Chester, who sells natural juices, received a freezer to help preserve and scale up her products. Similarly, Omotala Andrews, who met Minister Persaud during a community outreach, was supported with a freezer to boost her small business.

Nikita Cheeks, a mother of three who operates a poultry business, also received a freezer to help meet growing community demand. Meanwhile, single parent Rudo Andrews, who sells dog food, was provided with a freezer to enhance reliability and consistency in her enterprise.

Minister Persaud underscored that the initiative reflects a government that “listens, understands, and acts,” ensuring that support goes beyond items to become tools of empowerment for everyday entrepreneurs.
