A 38-year-old housewife and a 30-year-old taxi driver were on Tuesday charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with an alleged plot against a woman from Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
Anita Varsha Chetram of Enmore and Akeem Orin Bristol, called “Biggs,” of Craig Old Road, East Bank Demerara, are accused of conspiring to murder 44-year-old Bhagmattie Jagatram, also known as Shabana. The alleged offence occurred between September 1 and 24, 2025, at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Highway.
Chetram was arrested on September 26 by ranks from the Enmore Police Station, while Bristol was arrested on September 27 by ranks from the Providence Police Station.
On September 30, at about 14:30 hrs, the accused appeared before Magistrate Tameika Clarke at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to them. They were not required to enter a plea and were remanded to prison until November 7, 2025.
