The Guyana Association of Women Police (GAWP) hosted a successful inspection exercise on Thursday morning at the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) Drill Square, Eve Leary, showcasing the pride, precision, and professionalism of female ranks within the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
The exercise brought together participants from various departments across Police Headquarters, underscoring efforts to uphold discipline and high professional standards within the force.
Leading the inspection was GAWP President, Senior Superintendent Dr. Nicola Kendall, along with members of the executive team.
They inspected the parade to ensure that ranks were in conformity with force regulations.
Dr. Kendall commended the turnout and highlighted the importance of adhering to the dress code and maintaining professional standards, drawing reference to Standing Orders No. 9 and 12, which set out guidelines for personal grooming, conduct, and disciplinary measures within the force.
Dr. Kendall also provided updates on upcoming initiatives and activities planned by the association for the remainder of the year, while encouraging ranks to continue their participation in events that foster professionalism and community engagement.
In her address, she expressed appreciation to the officers, stating her gratitude for their “impressive turnout” and reinforcing the need for consistency in upholding the image of the police force.
Also delivering brief remarks was Senior Superintendent Shavon Jupiter, who praised the officers for their punctuality and discipline. She underscored the importance of maintaining a polished appearance, noting that “necessary adjustments in hairstyles and appearance” are essential as the organisation adapts to modern styles and fashions. Jupiter stressed that attention to detail in appearance reflects a modern and progressive police force.
During the inspection, several ranks were recognised for their exemplary adherence to the dress code and will receive incentives as a reward.
Dr. Kendall further encouraged female officers to actively participate in GAWP’s upcoming activities, particularly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of community involvement and support.
The event was attended by GAWP executives, senior and junior officers, and ranks of the GPF.
The inspection served not only as a platform to reinforce professional standards but also as a celebration of the growing role of women within the force, with GAWP continuing its mission to promote excellence and empowerment among its members.
