Guyanese bodybuilder Rosanna Fung made history today by clinching first place at the Mexico Pro Show Wellness Weekend, one of the most competitive IFBB events in the region. With this victory, Fung continues to establish herself as a top contender in the Wellness category while proudly representing Guyana on the global stage.

Fung’s outstanding performance at the event showcased her perfect blend of conditioning, symmetry, and stage presence, earning her a spot in the upcoming World Championships in Dubai later this year.

In a pre-competition interview with Ignite News, Fung reflected on the key to her success. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of fitness year-round, which allows her to be always competition-ready:

“The key to my success and to placing high in the world is kind of just maintaining a certain physique all year round, so that when I do decide to start my prep, I’m never too far off, and it doesn’t take too long for me to get back into that mode. It’s remembering that it’s a lifestyle, and it’s not just for the show, it’s something that you want to stick to all year round, making healthier decisions, and just living, breathing fitness.”

Looking ahead to the World Championships, Fung remains focused on preserving the balance of strength and femininity in her performance:

“My main goal heading into the World Championships in Dubai is to keep that feminine aspect of the sport as well as having all of the right parameters in place and making sure that I meet the requirements for the category. But also, we’re adding a bit of flair and grace to the performance, to just carrying the Guyanese flag to this stage and having that representation on such a high, high stage.”

This victory marks her second consecutive appearance at the World Championships, where she placed 8th in 2024. Fung now becomes the first Guyanese bodybuilder to compete at this level twice, further cementing her legacy in the sport.

As she prepares for the World Championships in Dubai, Fung’s success at the Mexico Pro Show highlights her relentless dedication to her craft. With her commitment to excellence and her unwavering pride in her Guyanese heritage, she continues to inspire athletes globally.
