An evening of appreciation was hosted at the Royal Hotel, Mandela Avenue, to celebrate the successful completion of the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge — a landmark national infrastructure project symbolising teamwork, innovation, and effective leadership.
Among those in attendance were Minister of Public Works, Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill; Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Hon. Dr. Ashni Singh; and Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Hon. Deodat Indar.


The Ministers were honoured for their exceptional leadership and guidance throughout the execution of the project, which stands as one of the country’s most transformative infrastructure undertakings.
Awards were also presented to outstanding individuals from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Finance, Contractor CRCC, and Consultants Politecnica in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the bridge’s successful completion.
Special commendation was extended to Mr. Patrick Thompson, Project Manager, for his remarkable dedication and effective management in overseeing the project’s delivery from inception to completion.
The ceremony was described as a true celebration of teamwork, commitment, and visionary leadership — the driving forces behind this historic national achievement.
