Devin Mohan, 31, has been sworn in as Regional Chairman of Region Two, ushering in a new era of youthful, people-focused leadership for the Pomeroon–Supenaam region.

Speaking after taking his oath on Friday at the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) boardroom, Mohan, former Mayor of Anna Regina, emphasized that his administration will prioritize service, transparency, and tangible improvements for all communities.

“This role is about service, not status,” Mohan said. “My commitment is to ensure that every corner of Region Two feels the impact of effective governance—from the smallest community in the Pomeroon to the heart of Anna Regina.”

The ceremony, presided over by Regional Executive Officer Susanah Saywack, saw sixteen of seventeen councillors from various political parties sworn in. Mohan’s rise from Mayor to Regional Chairman reflects his long-standing engagement in local governance, youth empowerment, and community development initiatives.

Re-elected as Regional Vice Chairman was Humace Oodit of Affiance Village, who pledged continued cooperation with the council to advance regional priorities. Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj, praised Mohan’s election as a vote of confidence in young leadership and stressed the importance of inclusivity and accountability.

The council includes representatives from the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), We Invest In Nationhood (WIIN), and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU). The new RDC leadership is expected to champion initiatives in governance, infrastructure, and social development across Region Two.
