The third edition of the International Business Conference (IBC Guyana 2025) officially opens tomorrow at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Georgetown.
Hosted by the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the World Trade Center (WTC) Georgetown, the event will spotlight Guyana and Suriname’s growing roles in regional trade and investment under the theme “Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity.”
The two-day conference will bring together business leaders, investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from across the Caribbean and beyond. The programme features a Presidential Address by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, remarks by Chairman of the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Vishnu Doerga, a motivational session by international business speaker Kaplan Mobray, a diplomatic panel featuring ambassadors, a ministerial dialogue, and a Welcome Cocktail on the hotel’s Sea Terrace.
Ignite News caught up with Dr. Doerga at the Guyana Marriott Hotel on Monday as final preparations were underway.
“The things that attendees can really look forward for is a lot of information about what is happening in Guyana– all the opportunities that currently exist. We have a wide range of Business to Business opportunities, so people would be able to book their meetings with various companies that are attending. We have a large exhibition happening as well, and a lot of international companies who are looking to not just invest in Guyana but some of them also have goods and services that fit within the Guyanese supply chain,” Dr. Doerga explained.
He further noted that the event will accommodate trade visitors who wish to access the exhibition without attending the full conference.
“If you are a business and maybe the delegate pass and what is happening at the conference is not of a lot of interest for you but you wanted to meet the large international exhibitors who are here, you do have the opportunity to get the trade visitor’s pass to come and visit the exhibition. We’re also looking at making the opportunity available for trade visitors to be able to meet with the companies that are coming in,” he said.
Dr. Doerga added that both local and international representatives from the public and private sectors, including Surinamese government ministers and Caribbean business organisations, will be participating.
He emphasised that this year’s conference aims to strengthen collaboration and create a platform for business acceleration and economic growth in the region.
The conference continues on Wednesday and Thursday with high-level panels and workshops on energy, infrastructure, logistics, digital transformation, and investment.
