Minister Parag hails Saraswati Vidya Niketan as a model of educational excellence

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, attended the 21st Graduation Ceremony of Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) in Cornelia Ida on Sunday, representing His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

In her remarks, Minister Parag highlighted SVN’s longstanding record of academic excellence, noting that the school has grown from modest beginnings into one of Guyana’s leading institutions, known for its discipline, quality teaching, and holistic approach to student development.

She emphasized that the school’s achievements are the result of collaboration between educators, parents, and the wider community, providing students with a balanced, values-based education. The Minister praised the institution for preparing students not just for examinations, but for life, fostering character, empathy, and integrity.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to a world-class and equitable education system, Minister Parag said:

“We must ensure that every child in Guyana—regardless of where they live—has access to quality education. Saraswati Vidya Niketan stands as a model of what is possible when excellence is matched with dedication.”

She also highlighted the importance of moral and ethical grounding in education, stressing that true success lies in cultivating values that produce strong, compassionate citizens.

Minister Parag congratulated the Class of 2025, their teachers, and parents, encouraging graduates to uphold the principles and high standards that define the Saraswati Vidya Niketan legacy.
