Gunraj & Co., Attorneys-at-Law, has announced the admission of Mr. Jayaram Ajay Sanasie to practice law in Guyana in all its jurisdictions. The petition for his admission was presented on Monday, October 13, 2025, by Mr. Sase Gunraj, Attorney-at-Law and Managing Partner of Gunraj & Co., before the Honourable Justice Deborah Kumar-Chetty, who granted the petition.
Mr. Sanasie, who recently graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School, will officially join the legal team at Gunraj & Co. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Guyana, where he graduated with credit, and a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Council of Legal Education.
In his address to the court, Mr. Sanasie expressed “profound gratitude” to the Honourable Court and to Mr. Gunraj for presenting his petition. Reflecting on his journey, he shared,
“During my graduation ceremony at the Hugh Wooding Law School, a question was posed: Which is more important, the journey or the destination? To my surprise, the answer was neither. The answer was the people you meet along the way of the journey.”
He credited his family, mentors, and spiritual guides for their unwavering support throughout his academic and professional pursuits, particularly highlighting the influence of Saraswati Vidya Niketan, his alma mater, and the Trinidad Sevashram Sangha, which supported him during his studies abroad.
Mr. Sanasie also extended appreciation to the Government of Guyana for its contribution to his legal education, noting that his admission marks “the commencement of another leap of this journey that incorporates a lifelong commitment to ensure that integrity, justice and impartiality are present and provided to the people of Guyana.”
