Busta has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development in Guyana through sports by renewing its partnership with the Petra Organisation for the sixth Annual Republic Bank Under-18 School Football League. The tournament, which runs from October 19 to November 30, 2025, will feature seven weeks of intense competition among the country’s most promising young footballers.
Guyana Beverages Inc. (GBI), the parent company of Busta, has pledged GYD$1.1 million in support for this year’s edition of the league. The contribution includes financial sponsorship, branded uniforms for players and coaches, and match-day refreshments, helping to create a professional and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
GBI’s General Manager, Samuel Arjoon, said the company’s continued investment reflects its belief in sports as a driving force for positive youth development. “Busta is proud to champion youth development through sports,” Arjoon said. “Football is more than just a game; it builds character, confidence, and community among young people. Our ongoing partnership is a testament to our commitment to empowering youth and promoting healthy lifestyles through spirited competition.”
Co-director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, expressed appreciation for Busta’s steadfast support, noting that the company has played a key role in expanding opportunities for young athletes across the country. “We are incredibly thankful for Busta’s consistent backing, which has been instrumental in ensuring that young footballers across Guyana have a platform to hone their skills, represent their schools, and develop a lifelong passion for the sport,” Mendonca stated.
The 2025 league will feature eight schools from four regions, offering a competitive environment that fosters teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Defending champions Chase’s Academic Foundation are among the frontrunners expected to put up a strong defense of their title.
In addition to the league trophy, the winning school will earn a spot in the KFC International Schools Football Championship, to be held in Guyana this December. If Chase’s Academic Foundation successfully defends their title, the runner-up will qualify for the international event instead.
Through partnerships like this one, Busta and the Petra Organisation continue to play an influential role in shaping the future of football in Guyana, empowering young athletes to grow both on and off the field.
