President Dr. Irfaan Ali has congratulated Guyanese athlete Rosanna Fung for making history by capturing the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) World Championship title at the Binous Classics in Dubai.
Fung secured victory in the Wellness category, becoming the first athlete in Guyana’s history to win a world championship title in bodybuilding — a feat President Ali described as a “monumental achievement” that fills the nation with pride.
Competing against elite athletes from around the world on one of the Middle East’s most prestigious bodybuilding stages, Fung delivered what the president called a “truly world-class performance,” demonstrating discipline, dedication, and excellence.
“Rosanna’s triumph is more than a personal victory — it is a symbol of national pride, a milestone in Guyana’s growing presence in global fitness and bodybuilding, and an inspiration to athletes across the Caribbean and beyond,” Ali said in a statement.
He added that Fung’s achievement highlights the potential of Guyanese talent to excel on the international stage.
“Congratulations, Rosanna Fung — Guyana’s World Champion,” the president said.
