Police have taken three persons into custody as investigations intensify into the murder of Faynel Brewster, which occurred on Sunday at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to the Guyana Police Force, CCTV footage revealed that prior to the incident, the victim’s brother was pursued by two men on a black XR motorcycle. The suspects’ movements were subsequently tracked before and after the incident through the Government’s Smart City Surveillance Cameras.
Following detailed investigative work, a police operation led by senior officers was conducted at Morcourt Square, East La Penitence, resulting in the arrest of two men, aged 25 and 29—an operator of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, and a farmer of Buxton, East Coast Demerara—along with a 25-year-old female vendor of Morcourt Square.
During a search of the premises, police discovered 50 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and a black Honda XR motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. Both items were seized and lodged as evidence.
The three suspects remain in custody as police continue to pursue additional leads.
The Guyana Police Force has assured the public that every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice.
