A Venezuelan national has been charged with the murder of another Venezuelan gold miner in Guyana’s Cuyuni River area, police said on Wednesday.
Jose Manuel Garvajal, 25, of Quartzstone Backdam, was arrested on October 18 and appeared before the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. He was charged with the murder of 35-year-old Yosber Alberto Rivero Sojo, also a Venezuelan gold miner.
Garvajal was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison, police said. His next court appearance is set for December 5.
