Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, will make an official bilateral visit to Guyana from October 31 to November 1, accompanied by senior officials from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Guyana Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said on Friday.

Guyana and Brazil, which established diplomatic relations in August 1968, have maintained active cooperation across a wide range of areas, including trade, health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, air and road transport, technical cooperation, security, and environmental protection.

The two countries also engage regionally through the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organisation, the Brasilia Consensus, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, and the Caribbean/Brazil Summit.

The visit is expected to strengthen the longstanding partnership and advance the bilateral cooperation agenda for mutual benefit, the ministry said.
