Relief and rebuilding efforts are in full swing for residents of Lima Housing Scheme who were affected by Monday’s freak storm.
Leading the coordinated response is Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, supported by the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Guyana Police Force (GPF), the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), and the Men on Mission (MoM) initiative.
Several homes were damaged during the sudden storm, leaving families displaced and in need of urgent assistance. Since the incident, teams have been mobilised to clear debris, assess damage, and begin reconstruction.
Chairman Mohan said the region’s response has been swift and united. “Our goal is to ensure every affected family receives help as quickly as possible. The collaboration among the agencies shows true teamwork and compassion,” he noted.
The GDF has provided skilled personnel to assist with rebuilding efforts, while Men on Mission is taking the lead in reconstructing the two most severely damaged homes.
Meanwhile, the GPF continues to patrol the area to protect residents’ belongings during the recovery phase.
Mohan expressed gratitude to all partners involved, emphasizing that the RDC remains committed to restoring normalcy. “This disaster tested our resilience, but it also reminded us of the strength and unity within our region. Together, we will rebuild stronger than before,” he said.
