Guyana dominates Bahamas on opening night of women’s CBC

Guyana’s women’s basketball team dominated The Bahamas 102-75 in their opening match of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, delivering a commanding offensive display before a raucous home crowd.
The Ramlall sisters—Amisha, Arshia, and Ashna—showcased exceptional firepower alongside Ruth Adams, with the quartet combining for 80 points to power the hosts to a decisive victory. Amisha Ramlall led the charge with a blistering 35 points, while her sisters contributed 13 and 12 points respectively, demonstrating the depth of Guyana’s offensive arsenal in their opening matchup of the tournament.
The match unfolded as a dominant second-half performance by the home team, who raced to a 32-25 lead after the first quarter before expanding their advantage to 48-40 at halftime. Guyana emerged from the locker room with renewed intensity, controlling the third quarter with sharp shooting and stifling defense to extend their lead to 76-57 heading into the final frame.
While The Bahamas’ Valerie Nesbitt mounted a valiant effort with a game-high 35 points, the Guyanese defense proved resilient enough to secure the decisive 27-point victory, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive tenacity.
Captain Joy Adams contributed a near triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds, while Ayana McDavid dominated the boards with six rebounds in a display of well-rounded team basketball.
