The Ministry of Education is intensifying its national Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence Campaign with a series of school engagements in Region Seven, reaffirming its commitment to creating safe and supportive learning environments for students across Guyana.
As part of the ongoing initiative, a Ministry team conducted interactive sessions with learners and teachers at St. John the Baptist Primary, St. Anthony’s Primary, Agatash Primary, Potaro Primary, Two Miles Primary, and Three Miles Secondary. The visits focused on encouraging open dialogue about bullying, helping students identify harmful behaviours, and strengthening reporting and support systems within each school.
Officials noted that the campaign is rooted in the understanding that addressing bullying requires continuous community involvement, clear policies, and collaboration among educators, parents, and students.
The Ministry is also urging the public to play an active role as it develops a national Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence Policy. Citizens are encouraged to report incidents and submit recommendations on measures they believe should be included in the policy.
According to the Ministry, the goal is to ensure that respect, empathy, and accountability become defining features of the school environment.
“Together, we can shape a culture where every learner feels valued and protected,” the Ministry emphasized.
The campaign continues nationwide as the Ministry ramps up efforts to reduce school-based violence and strengthen student well-being.
