Ray Sheoraj, 36, was killed late Monday during an altercation with a male relative at their home in Supply, Mahaica, police said on Tuesday.
Sheoraj, known as “Redman,” collapsed after suffering an injury to his left leg inflicted with a sharp object during the dispute, police said. He was taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers recovered a cutlass and a chopper believed to have been used in the incident. The 62-year-old suspect fled the scene and is being sought.
Two men who were present during the altercation were detained for questioning, while a 29-year-old female relative sustained a minor injury and is receiving medical treatment.
The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
