A 38-year-old Fyrish Village resident, Travis Joseph, died on Sunday following a motorcycle accident on Fyrish Access Road, Corentyne.
Police said the incident occurred around 16:10 hrs when Joseph, who was riding an unidentified motorcycle reportedly at a fast rate, lost control while travelling north along the western side of the roadway.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the grass parapet, sustaining severe injuries to his head and body. Public-spirited citizens rushed him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he received initial treatment, before being referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. He died while receiving further medical attention.
Joseph’s body is at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police investigations are ongoing.
