Onderneeming man gets 58-month prison term for $1M thief

Thirty-year-old Michael Singh of Lot 28 Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, was sentenced to 58 months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of simple larceny on December 10.

The virtual complainant is 36-year-old boat captain Hubert Griffith of Santa Rosa Island, Moruca, Region One. Singh was convicted of stealing more than one million Guyana dollars.

The matter was heard in the Essequibo Magisterial District before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir.
