A motor vehicle accident along the Three Friends Public Road, Region Two (Pomeroon–Supenaam), on Sunday evening left one man injured and another in critical condition.
The accident occurred at approximately 18:30h and involved a motor car that was reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver, identified as Avi Persaud, sustained minor injuries. The other occupant of the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been released by authorities, remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with a lantern post in the village. The impact resulted in the car flipping and landing on its side, leaving it extensively damaged.
Public-spirited residents responded promptly, assisting in removing the injured occupants from the wreckage before transporting them to the Lima Regional Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
