The victim, Leslyn Cupidore of Providence, died at the scene following the collision, which occurred around 01:30 hrs on the western carriageway of the roadway.
Police said the vehicle, motor car PAM 8305, was travelling north when it struck the pedestrian as she crossed from east to west. The car was driven by a 33-year-old man from North Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
The woman sustained severe head and bodily injuries and was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, who responded along with emergency medical technicians. Her body was taken to a funeral home, where a post-mortem examination is pending.
A breathalyser test conducted on the driver recorded readings of 0.04 and 0.08 micrograms, below the legal limit of 35 micrograms, police said.
