Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 53-year-old Anthony Mathurin, an unemployed man from Greenheart Street, South Ruimveldt, who was found dead on Tuesday evening.
Preliminary reports indicate that Mathurin, who reportedly suffered from an illness, was discovered lying motionless in the yard of his residence by relatives, who then called Emergency Medical Technicians. He was examined and later pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
The body has been taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Authorities said CCTV footage from the area has been collected and will be reviewed. No arrests have been made, and several people have been questioned as the investigation continues.
