A 27-year-old driver, Amar Jones of One Mile, Wismar, Linden, was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon during a brazen attack along the Half Mile Public Road, Wismar.
The incident occurred at about 15:00 hrs while Jones was travelling in a motor canter. Preliminary investigations indicate that he was approached by a motor car, from which an unidentified man exited and opened fire in his direction before fleeing the scene in the waiting vehicle.
Police ranks who responded to the scene found Jones slumped motionless in the driver’s seat. He was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. His body was later taken to the G-Jetsco Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
As part of ongoing investigations, a 24-year-old woman of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has been arrested and is currently in police custody assisting investigators. A motor vehicle was also seized and is being processed as evidence.
Investigations are continuing.
