Cannabis plants worth an estimated $965,580 were destroyed during a police eradication exercise at Wel te Vreeden, Canje Creek, Berbice on Wednesday.
Police ranks, led by a Gazetted Officer, conducted the operation between 04:00hrs and 12:30hrs, uncovering approximately 950 cannabis plants on a one-acre plot.
The plants ranged in height from two to five feet, and a makeshift camp was also found at the location.
The cannabis plants and the camp were destroyed by fire. No arrests were made, and the exercise was conducted without incident.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
