The Yarrowkabara Training Centre (YTC) has been renamed the James Singh Centre for Innovation, Training and Sustainable Forestry, in honour of the late forestry veteran James Singh.
Singh, who served at the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) from 1998 until his passing in 2025, held roles including Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner from 1999 to 2019, and Management Consultant from 2020. He was instrumental in developing the YTC, expanding its focus from research to include training programmes.
The YTC, originally established in the 1960s, is located at Yarrowkabara on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway. Family members of Singh attended the renaming ceremony.
