Two men, Shaquille Gordon and Ravindranauth Persaud, were arrested on Saturday after a Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) operation recovered suspected cocaine, authorities said.
Gordon, driving a white Volkswagen (PAL 4117), and Persaud, in a white Pitbull minibus (BAB 6337), were intercepted following a high-speed chase in the Kitty area. During the pursuit, officers recovered a brown cardboard box thrown from Gordon’s vehicle containing seven brick-like parcels of suspected cocaine.
The narcotic tested positive for cocaine at CANU headquarters and weighed about 8.226 kilograms (18.135 pounds).
CANU said the arrests were part of ongoing intelligence-led operations to disrupt narcotics trafficking and safeguard communities across Guyana. Investigations are continuing.
