The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMRSC) will host a Kart Revival event on Sunday at the 555 Speedway in Thomas Lands, Georgetown, starting at 1400 hrs, as part of efforts to revitalise grassroots motor racing.
The initiative aims to renew interest in karting, widely regarded as the entry point into competitive racing, by providing a structured environment for emerging drivers while allowing experienced competitors to re-engage with the sport.
GMRSC Technical Advisor Stefan Jeffrey said the event will introduce a race format aligned with international standards, including qualifying, a pre-final, and a final round to determine overall winners.
Organisers expect about 60 competitors across multiple classes, including cadets, juniors, seniors, and veteran drivers.
The event will also feature a Supermoto segment on a trial basis as part of plans to expand future programmes.
Sponsored by Ming’s Products and Services, with support from Guyoil, Castrol, and ENet, the event underscores private sector backing for motorsport development in Guyana.
Admission is free, and organisers anticipate a strong turnout from motorsport enthusiasts and the wider public.
