Catherine Hinds, 58, of Yarrowkabra, died after a car she was traveling in collided with a bus on Coldingen Public Road, East Coast Demerara, on Tuesday morning, police said.
The car, PRR 2713, driven by a 65-year-old man, was reportedly traveling east at high speed when it lost control negotiating a left turn and struck bus PAH 3379, traveling west in the opposite direction.
Hinds was taken to Enmore Regional Hospital but died while receiving medical attention. The car’s driver was also treated at the hospital. Four bus passengers were taken to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation; two sustained head injuries and were reported in stable condition.
Police said a breathalyzer test on the bus driver showed no alcohol. Investigations are ongoing, and Hinds’ body is at Enmore Regional Hospital awaiting a post-mortem.
